What can I do at home for my dog’s rash?

If your dog has a mild rash, don’t worry too much! Here are some home remedies that might help soothe the skin. Just remember, if the rash doesn’t go away or your dog starts feeling worse—like having a fever or acting tired—it’s best to call the vet.

Oatmeal bath :

Why oatmeal? It’s super calming & helps with inflammation. Perfect for itchy skin!

Directions: Take unsweetened oatmeal, grind it into a powder, & mix it with lukewarm water in a tub. Let your pup soak for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Aloe vera

What’s great about it? Aloe vera is cool and helps heal the skin while easing itchiness.

How to use it? Grab pure aloe vera gel (no funky stuff added!) and spread a thin layer on the rash. Just be careful—don’t let your dog lick it off!

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is moisturizing and has antibacterial and antifungal properties

Why is it useful? Coconut oil is great for moisturizing & fights off bacteria and fungi!

How to proceed? Just take a little bit of virgin coconut oil & gently rub it on the rash.

Apple cider vinegar has antimicrobial properties

How does this help? It’s known to fight germs and can stop itching too!

How to use it? Mix equal parts apple cider vinegar & water, then spray on the rash. But skip this if there are open wounds because it could sting a little.

Chamomile or green tea compresses

What’s so nice about these? They soothe and calm irritated skin.

How to use them? Brew some chamomile or green tea, let it cool down, then soak a clean cloth in it. Gently press it against the rash for 5-10 minutes.

Epsom salt soak

These salts help with swelling & itching! They’re especially good for rashes caused by allergies or irritants.

How to proceed? Mix Epsom salts in lukewarm water & soak the affected area for 5-10 minutes. Rinse afterward—don’t want your pup licking any leftover salt!

Witch hazel

Why should you try this? It acts like a natural soothing potion for irritated skin!

How to apply? Dab witch hazel on the rash using a cotton ball—but avoid any open wounds.

Baking soda paste

What does this do? Baking soda can dry out those rashes & calm itching down

how neat is that? How to use: Mix baking soda with some water to make a paste and apply it on the rash. Leave it for about 10 minutes before rinsing off.
